The Table

Insta-Blog

Have you ever listened to a podcast or a sermon and it literally ignited your soul? The words spoken are so good and so encouraging – that you almost feel that person is speaking directly to you? And it is in that moment, that you feel your soul ignited to go do something.

It’s 2020! A New Year! A New decade. People are posting every which way on their new goals, new hoping selves, new weight loss, etc. etc. But instead of a new _______. What about just igniting what you are already doing? Taking what you have and giving it what my friend Danielle Strickland says is a “boost”.

I was recently listening to the podcast “Open Table – Son a preacher man by Jonathan Martin”. It is soooooooo good. If you get sec / listen to it. But I caught myself talking back to the podcast. Now side note, I do talk to myself (and answer myself) quite often. I know I’m not the only one out there who does this. Anyways, listening to it…I felt ignited. My soul was rising up. Ready for action. Jonathan Martin talks about in this podcast that ALL should be invited to the Lords table. “The Lords table should be not a table of division but a table of unity. If you are humble & hungry, then you should come to table.” And it made me think of my own table in my house. If you know me, I LOVE to cook & eat with people at my table. I always feel honored in doing it. But am I striving enough to invite ALL to my table? Am I striving for unity at my table? Or unity in the table of life? My boost this year is for that – to invite ALL to the table. BTW – I love how J Martin closes his podcast by talking on how at the last supper Jesus had WELCOMED both Judas & Peter to the table. One had already denied him & another was about to. And he already knew all this when he welcomed them to the table. (Whoa. 🎤 drop)

So if you are reading this…know you are always invited into my home and at my table. And more importantly to the table of the Lord. I can’t wait to sit with you there in 2020.

Christmas Eve 2020 Christmas Eve 2020
Good news! Heck, I think we all can use some goo Good news! Heck, I think we all can use some good news these days. And here it is! JOY is coming our way. Even better!!! We need JOY surrounding us this year. But what I love the most about this verse is it goes on to say “You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.” The King of Kings will be found in a simple barn in hay. I love it because it truly shows us the greatest of joy can be found in the simplest of things. I hope you find great JOY today no matter where you are.
This year has changed our ways in so many facets. This year has changed our ways in so many facets. Our ways of doing life are entirely different. What we can do and what we cannot do. And now - our Christmas celebrations might look different this year. Who is coming or more importantly, not coming to gather this year. What is being served to celebrate or where you are going to celebrate - That might all look different. But one thing that this year cannot change for us - is our ability to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. THE reason we celebrate Christmas!!! The reason you are celebrating Christmas, can NEVER be changed. It is a constant and solid foundation to the Holiday of Christmas. So as we start our celebrations in the next few days, I encourage each of us to not focus on the change of the holiday….But focus on what we are celebrating. Celebrating our one true savior. The one who was given to us to bring us life. He is Wonderful, Mighty, Everlasting and a Prince of Peace. I have to say….these are four adjectives that I want around as we close out this crazy year. I think we all need Peace this Holiday Season. I know I do.
